Thimble-fingered

This summer I discovered a good amount of pretty, vintage fabric tucked away in my attic. I dilly dallied over what to make, deciding on aprons in the end. I've never made a garment before in my life - this was a fool-proof way to make something I could use regularly.

It was an experimental process and I had fun despite frequently pricking myself (I hand-sewed it all). I'm looking forward to being experimental again once I can afford supplies again (this will probably not be until June...sigh..).

Anyway folks, here are some photos. I couldn't be bothered to work out a sophisticated way to photograph them and, as usual, there was hardly any natural light coming into the house. The colours are generally less bright than they appear here, especially the navy ribbon, which is actually quite dark. Right, enough compensating - here we go:

haha mayb mayb! you never know i might do! its the cutest material and i love the ribbon!

im so jealous u just found this stuff! theres nothing like that in my house :( - the downside of just having a dad - u never find random cute stuff!!

Oooo that would be cute to monogram it!...or you could test out your embroidery skills and do it straight onto the material? not sure if it would work with the pattern...but u never know!!

p.s. can u have ur blog so that anon people can comment?! feels weird using the baking blog!! haha

Didn't you find loads of awesome cake pans though!? That's not a bad discovery!
Ahhh I have no embroidery skillz. I think I'm gonna buy 'Sewing for Dummies' or something and try to learn some new techniques.
I will try and change the settings on the blog but I'm pretty inept at all that stuff!
